As one of the largest staging companies in Northern California, Welcome Home Staging is always busy. Add to that moving to a new building and warehouse, then a new software system and it’s no wonder the company’s website got left behind.
However so many things had changed over the years – personnel, address, even upper management – that it was clearly time.
Fortunately, their staging work is so stunning (check out the portfolio) that filling the site with quality images was simply a matter of picking and choosing.
Text was edited, the site optimized, and the phone keeps ringing.
Exactly how it’s supposed to be.
Welcome to Welcome Home Staging.
Having worked in the classical music publishing world for years, it’s not surprising that many of my clients (and friends) are musicians and composers. I’ve also had the privilege to design sites for several music publishers in the last 15 years.
Recently one of my composer clients, Paul Moravec (winner of the 2004 Pulitzer Prize for Music) completed work on THE SHINING, based on the novel by Stephen King. Paul’s publisher, Subito Music Corporation asked me to work with their team to develop a site focusing on this wonderful new addition to the operatic repertoire.
The result? Opera The Shining.
An intensely visual experience, as well as auditory obviously, the site attempts to give a feel for the full experience as well as providing information for booking information.
Is there room in the standard opera repertoire for a new, American work? Take a look at the site, watch and listen to the trailer, check out the video excerpts … what do you think?
Not long ago, our dryer developed a high pitch whine that would wake the dead, or at least the neighbors. My wife checked the local Yellow Pages (I know, for a web developer’s spouse she’s pretty old school) and called a nearby service. The owner arrived promptly, diagnosed the problem and quickly replaced the offending pulley.
In the course of casual chatting the term “website” came up and I told him I’d run a quick audit of his. Turned out he wasn’t doing very well in local organic search as his current web developer was focusing on displaying Yelp reviews on the site.
Less than two months later, a shiny new Azer Appliance greets the world. Of course, the new design is only the beginning: we will be closely monitoring Analytics, keywords, competitors etc. In many ways, the SEO work for a local business never ends – and it would be a huge mistake to think you’re ever “finished.”
And there’s still more to come: an online appointment scheduler a Facebook business page, maybe a blog … and all from a squeak.
